For the last year, I've been on the road a lot. I love it! You often hear entertainers complain about traveling, but it's actually my favorite part of gigging (except for the actual shows). I prefer to drive over flying because I can take extra stuff. Also, I actually like the driving. I listen to music, podcasts, and often come up with ideas for tricks and jokes. I heard about one comedian who would get in his car and drive just to come up with ideas. Walking is also a great way to spur creative thoughts.
I stopped in Las Vegas on my way to Park City, UT. It was 120 degrees. Between Vegas, Park City, and Scottsdale, I've had a nice tour of the desert in the summertime. I'm originally from Miami, FL, so I never complain about the heat. In all honesty, I don't know why people care. Everything is air conditioned! I suppose if you love Ultimate Frisbee and Golf, you have a reason to be annoyed, but I'll take sweating over scraping ice off my windshield any day.
First Stop: Park City, UT
A couple of weeks ago, I performed at a regional meeting for Edward Jones. I perform in Utah regularly, so I guess I didn't think to take pictures. The only one I took is the one you see above, before my show started. They were a great group. I performed close-up magic during their cocktail hour. After dinner, I performed my stand-up comedy, magic, and mentalism show. I've been going to Utah for about 25 years. I have more corporate events and private parties out there in the coming months. I look forward to my return trip, and taking more pictures!
Second Stop: Scottsdale, AZ
The following weekend, I headed out to Arizona for another corporate event. This time, I performed my formal close-up magic show for a company called Devoted Guardians. I love performing this show because everybody is involved. Each show is different so the audience knows it's a unique experience, just for them.
This trip was special for another reason. I'm almost always on the road alone, but this time my friend Justin tagged along. He grew up in Phoenix, so it was an excuse to see old friends. I love roadside attractions, and lucky for me, so does Justin. Also, since he's traveled this route a million times, he knows all of the best stops. I hadn't been to Arizona in over 20 years, so it was great to have a local with me.
Stops Along the Way
While I was in Scottsdale, I visited Old Town. I took in some live music, did a lot of people watching, and all in all, had a great time. I picked up Justin from his friend's house and we made a safe journey home. There were a couple of other stops, and I promise to take more pictures in the future!
If you're having a private party or corporate event, remember that I travel everywhere (even internationally). I'd love to be a part of your next gathering. To book me, give me a call at 310-935-3684 or fill out this form.
